Joinery is quoted from a drawing and a guess at how long it will take you in the workshop. Get the hours wrong and the job pays you less than the day rate you turned down. Traddie is built to catch that before you send it, not after.
Check the quote against your own cost rates

Deposit before you buy the timber
Bespoke work means buying the material before anybody has paid you, and it is not material you can sell to somebody else. Set a deposit on the quote, take it by card, and the final invoice arrives with it already netted off.
The change to the drawing gets priced
Raise a variation against the job, price it, and send the customer a link. They approve a gross figure and that exact number lands on the invoice, so "we said oak in the end" is settled in writing at the time.
What the job actually took
Workshop and site hours logged against the job, with materials from receipts and purchase orders, compared with what you billed. The timer proposes the hours and you confirm them, and no location is captured at any point.
