FAQ for UK electricians

Does Traddie work for both NICEIC and Part P registered electricians?+
Yes. Traddie is invoicing and job management software — it does not interact with NICEIC or Part P registration. You can issue compliant invoices and quotes regardless of which competent person scheme you are registered with. Many of our electrician users are NICEIC, NAPIT, or ELECSA registered.
Can I attach electrical certificates and test reports to invoices?+
Yes. Invoices, quotes, and jobs in Traddie support PDF and image attachments — so you can include EICRs, EIC certificates, minor works certificates, and PAT test reports alongside the invoice. Customers receive everything in one email.
How does CIS work for electrical subcontractors?+
If you do work for a main contractor on a construction project, CIS applies. Traddie applies the correct deduction rate (20% for registered subcontractors, 30% if unregistered) to the labour portion of your invoice automatically. Materials you supply are excluded from the calculation per HMRC rules.
Can I send quotes for rewires and larger jobs with multiple line items?+
Yes. Quotes support unlimited line items with optional materials, labour, and discount breakdowns. You can also offer multiple options (e.g. a base spec and an upgrade spec) on the same quote — the customer accepts the one they want.
Will my customers see VAT and CIS deductions correctly on their invoice?+
Yes. Invoices show gross, materials, labour subject to CIS, the CIS deduction (if applicable), VAT (if you are VAT registered), and the net amount payable. The layout matches what HMRC expects on a payment & deduction statement.
